Design Takeaways
Building an arcade game was a unique challenge in that there are certain priorities present in arcade games. They have to be challenging and you need to chase some sort of scoring or progression. This is done because with classic arcade games, you want the player to continue to spend their tokens chasing after something that can't be done in a single playthrough.
Designing arcade games also draws a heavy dependence on how it feels to play using a joystick as opposed to mouse and keyboard or a controller. It's an art to ensure that player control feels great within a unique control scheme such as an arcade machine.
Creating a fun loop that was incentivized by a chase mechanic was a very good learning experience. Also, I also got the opportunity to use Premiere Pro to create an overview trailer. It's always fun to do something like that on the fly and it tied the project up nicely.
